NEWARK, Del. – No. 2 WKU eliminated No. 7 LA Tech by a 5-2 margin on Friday afternoon at the Delaware Softball Diamond to keep its hopes alive of claiming the final spot in Saturday’s CUSA Softball Championship game.

Outfielder Jenna Blanton went 2-4 in the leadoff spot with perhaps the game’s biggest hit – a two-run double in the home half of the fourth that served as the game-winner.

Starting pitcher Erica Houge (23-6) went the distance for the Hilltoppers (39-13) and allowed just one earned run on six hits with a pair of punchouts. None of the Bulldogs’ (31-25) six base knocks went for extra bases.

LA Tech’s Bryannah Campos (9-4) suffered the loss after she gave up four runs on six hits in 4.0 innings of relief.

The Hilltoppers square off with No. 1 Jax State at 5:35 p.m. ET Friday for the right to face No. 3 Liberty in Saturday’s title game at Noon CT.
