SB: March 16 Players of the Week

DALLAS – Liberty’s Brynn McManus, LA Tech’s Allie Floyd and Jax State’s Makenna Moore earned Conference USA Softball weekly honors.
 
McManus garners Player of the Week honors, while Floyd is the Pitcher of the Week, and Moore is the Freshman of the Week.
 
Player of the Week – Brynn McManus, Liberty – Senior – OF – McMinnville, Ore.
McManus had a sensational week at the plate, helping Liberty (11-15, 4-2 CUSA) to four straight road victories including a series sweep at previously unbeaten MTSU. For the week, she batted 6-11 (.545) with one double, three homers, five RBI, seven runs scored, a .571 on base percentage and 1.455 slugging percentage. On Tuesday at James Madison, McManus went 2-3 with a homer, one RBI and two runs scored. In the sixth inning, her homer (the third of a back-to-back-to-back homer barrage) proved to be the game winner in a 9-8 victory. She then batted 2-2 with a sacrifice fly, homer, three RBI and two runs scored in a 10-5 win over MTSU on Friday. She got Liberty on the board with a sacrifice fly in the first and added a solo homer in the third and RBI single in the fourth. On Saturday, she went 1-2 with a double and two runs scored in a 9-0 win. Then on Sunday, she blasted her third homer of the week in an 8-6 win. She homered to provide insurance in a four-run sixth inning as Liberty came back for the win. 
 
Pitcher of the Week – Allie Floyd, LA Tech – Senior – East Bernard, Texas
Floyd (7-6) tossed two complete-game shutouts and recorded her 12th career save against Delaware as the Bulldogs (17-10, 3-3 CUSA) swept the Blue Hens this weekend. The senior logged 13 innings in the circle and allowed just five hits, none for extra bases. She posted a 0.00 ERA with 15 strikeouts. Floyd pitched seven innings on Friday night, allowing four singles while striking out eight for a season high. She earned a one-inning save on Saturday, striking out one and not allowing a hit, walk or run. Floyd entered with an 8-7 lead and was required to face the top of the Delaware order but retired the side in order. Floyd capped the weekend with a five-inning complete-game shutout on Sunday. She added six strikeouts, and the lone hit she allowed did not leave the infield.
 
Freshman of the Week – Makenna Moore, Jax State – Pitcher – Grain Valley, Mo.
In 17.1 innings of work over three appearances, Moore allowed just one earned run and racked up 13 strikeouts. The Gamecocks (20-8, 5-1 CUSA) swept then-first place WKU over the weekend to vault into the top spot in CUSA. On Sunday, she tossed a complete game shutout against WKU to improve to 6-1 on the season, while posting seven strikeouts and two walks. Though she didn’t factor into the decision in Friday night’s win over the Hilltoppers when the Gamecocks snapped their 14-game win streak. She also tossed six shutout innings against Samford on Wednesday, when she allowed just three hits.
