WSOC: September 16 Players of the Week

DALLAS – Delaware’s Sophia Hall and Jax State’s Amelia Jacobs and Raegan Whitaker earned Conference USA Women’s Soccer Player of the Week honors.
 
Offensive Player of the Week – Amelia Jacobs, Jax State – Sophomore – Gulf Breeze, Fla.
Jacobs takes home CUSA Offensive Player of the Week after an unforgettable pair of wins for Jax State (6-2-2) over Alabama State and Mercer last week. On Friday against Alabama State, the sophomore forward collected the first hat trick and first multi-goal performance of her career. She scored two goals in the first 17 minutes of action, then her third in the 53rd minute in a 6-0 win. In Sunday’s 2-0 win at Mercer, Jacobs netted the dagger score in the 71st minute to hand the Bears their first home loss of the season. She totaled four goals on six shots on goal with an assist and nine points on the week.
 
Defensive Player of the Week – Raegan Whitaker, Jax State – Sophomore – Birmingham, Ala.
Whitaker showcased another stellar week for the Gamecocks (6-2-2) back line as they went 2-0 and extending their win streak to five. The sophomore defender guided the Jax State defense to back-to-back shutouts and helped hold Mercer to its third-lowest shot total this season. Over their five-game winning streak, the Gamecocks are outscoring their opponents 13-1.
 
Goalkeeper of the Week – Sophia Hall, Delaware – Freshman – Malvern, Penn.
Hall claims her second Goalkeeper of the Week award after pitching a shutout win to close non-conference play for the Blue Hens (7-0-2). The freshman from Malvern, Penn., notched a career-high eight saves in their 1-0 triumph over William & Mary, which ties for the most under third-year head coach Kelly Lawrence. Delaware is off to its best start in program history as they remain unbeaten going into CUSA action.
