FB: November 3 Players of the Week

DALLAS – Conference USA announced Monday its weekly award winners for week 10. The weekly awards are voted on by a panel of the league’s media.

Offensive Player of the Week – Evan Dickens, Liberty – R-So. – RB – Roswell, Ga.
Dickens had a banner game and sparked Liberty’s (4-4, 3-1 CUSA) best offensive performance of the season, finishing the game with a career-high 217 rushing yards and four rushing touchdowns in a 59-30 victory over Delaware. It marked his second 100-yard game of the season and first 200-yard performance of his collegiate career. Dickens’ four touchdowns matched his season total coming into the game and tied a Williams Stadium single game record. He is the first Flame since Malik Willis in the 2020 Cure Bowl against Coastal Carolina to rush for four touchdowns in a game. Dickens rushed for three touchdowns in the first half, becoming the first Liberty player to rush for three first-half scores against an FBS opponent.

Defensive Player of the Week – Tywon Christopher, Kennesaw State – R-Fr. – LB – Thomasville, Ga.
Thrust into his first career start due to injury, Christopher had a career game as Kennesaw State (6-2, 4-0 CUSA) won its sixth-straight game, 33-20, against UTEP on Tuesday. He recorded a team-best 12 tackles on the night, including a tackle for loss. Christopher forced the fumble that was scooped and scored with on UTEP’s first offensive drive of the game to give KSU its first points. He recorded the second-best PFF run defense grade (96.4) in the country for Week 10 (behind only Indiana’s Devan Boykin), defending the run on 31 snaps (more than 40 percent of his 72 total snaps) Christopher recorded the sixth-best defensive PFF rating in the country (min. 70 snaps) with an 80.2, ranking second in Group of Six conferences.

Special Teams Player of the Week – Cole Maynard, WKU – R-Sr. – P – Mooresville, N.C.
Maynard continued his consistent play on Saturday, averaging 44.2 yards on four punts, with one traveling 50-plus yards and one downed inside the 20-yard line, in a 35-16 Homecoming win over New Mexico State on Saturday at Houchens-Smith Stadium. Maynard is currently second in the country in punting with 48.8 yards per punt, and he is on pace to set the WKU (7-2, 5-1 CUSA) record for punting average in a season.

Freshman of the Week – Rodney Tisdale Jr., WKU – R-Fr. – QB – Jacksonville, Fla.
Tisdale Jr. threw for 301 yards and four touchdowns on his way to a second-straight Freshman of the Week title. Making the second start of his college career and first at home, he completed 79% of his passes (30-38) and added 28 yards on 12 rushing attempts in the win, helping the Hilltoppers to 429 yards of offense in the game. Tisdale threw touchdown passes to three different receivers, and 10 different Hilltoppers had at least one reception in the win, with six posting multiple catches.

Offensive Lineman of the Week – Landon Nelson, LA Tech – R-Sr. – C – Underwood, Iowa
Nelson made his seventh start of the season at center and helped the Bulldogs rush for 425 yards, the third most in school history (most since 1991), and six touchdowns on the ground (most since 2015). The Bulldogs had two running backs rush for over 100 yards, marking the first time since Nov. 18, 2017, versus UTEP that two Bulldogs eclipsed 100 yards on the ground in the same game. Tech’s 55 points were the most points scored by the Bulldogs since Sept. 26, 2020. The Bulldogs posted 646 total yards, the third most ever by LA Tech in a CUSA game and the most since 2019.
