VB: October 20 Players of the Week

DALLAS – WKU’s Alivia Skidmore, Tayler Baron and Callie Bauer, along with Missouri State’s Hannah Gardner earned Conference USA Volleyball Player of the Week honors.

CUSA Offensive Player of the Week – Alivia Skidmore, WKU – So. – OH – Florence, Ky.
Skidmore absolutely erupted over the weekend for 35 kills, including a career-high 20 on Friday against the Sam Houston Bearkats. Her 35 total kills also produced a staggering .406 hitting percentage with her match-best coming on Friday with a .425. Skidmore also collected three blocks and 11 digs. The sophomore outside hitter currently ranks fifth in CUSA in kills per set (3.51) and eighth in total kills (259).
 
CUSA Defensive Player of the Week – Tayler Baron, WKU – So. – L – Lascassas, Tenn.  
Baron helped the Hilltoppers (17-4, 8-0 CUSA) secure the weekend sweep over Sam Houston thanks to an average of 5.25 digs per set across eight sets. She finished the weekend with a total of 42 digs and seven assists. She collected two, 20 plus dig performances with 20 on Friday and 22 on Saturday. Baron is currently ranked fifth in CUSA in digs per set (3.73) and sixth in total digs (250).
 
CUSA Setter of the Week – Callie Bauer, WKU – R-Sr. – Hudson, Mich.  
Bauer earned her third consecutive CUSA Setter of the Week award after finishing the weekend with 96 assists and an average of 12.00 assists per set. During her time in the front row, she recorded seven kills and two blocks including one solo block.  The Hudson, Michigan, native ranks second in CUSA in assists per set at 9.56 and second in total assists with 631. Bauer also guided WKU to a conference-best hitting percentage of .304, the only .300 plus hitting clip in the league.
 
CUSA Freshman of the Week – Hannah Gardner, Mo State – S/RS – Springfield, Mo.  
Gardner averaged 2.63 kills, 5.75 assists, 2.38 digs and 0.63 blocks per set in Missouri State’s (8-11, 3-5 CUSA) weekend sweep of New Mexico State. The freshman setter/right side hitter tallied career highs of 15 kills (on .324 hitting) and 28 assists in addition to 11 digs in MSU’s 3-2 win on Saturday, posting her second triple-double of the season after becoming the first freshman in school history to record one in September. On Friday, she totaled six kills, 18 assists and eight digs in the Bears' sweep of the Aggies.
