MSOC: C-USA QF 1 - (4) Kentucky 3, (5) Coastal Carolina 1

CHARLOTTE, North Carolina– No. 4 seed Kentucky (12-1-4) had first-half goals from Lucca Rodrigues and Luis Grassow, and the Wildcats held off No. 5 seed Coastal Carolina (6-5-4) 3-1 in the opening quarterfinal game of the 2021 C-USA Men’s Soccer Championship at TransAmerica Field.
 
The victory advances the Wildcats to the semifinal round Friday against No. 1 seed FIU at 4:30 pm ET/3:30 pm CT.
 
A goal in the 67th minute of the game by the Chanticleers’ Alvaro Garcia-Pasqual from Ethan Hackenberg to bring them within one of Kentucky.
 
The Wildcats outshot Coastal Carolina 14-10 overall, including a 7-2 edge in shots on goal. Kentucky goalkeeper Jan Hoffelner stopped one shot in the victory, while the Chanticleer netminder Leon Schmidt made four saves in defeat.
